Rhode Island Is Famous For You
In 2008, Danny Fratina created a big band arrangement of “Rhode Island Is Famous For You” because the band was playing so many gigs in Rhode Island with only Blossom Dearie’s small-group version in their repertoire. This happened after band director Frank Hsieh was inspired by hearing Erin McKeown’s arrangement of the song on her Sing You Sinners album. Coincidentally, a year later the band performed at a wedding in which Erin McKeown was one of the guests, and Erin went up and sang it with the band. Erin would go on to sing at several more performances with the Beantown Swing Orchestra.
